If you haven’t enjoyed cornbread before, you have to try baking my Kickin’ Sweet Southern Cornbread in a Pan!
All to often, I hear people say they don’t like cornbread because it’s gritty…Not this one.
I hear them say, it’s tasteless…Not this one.
They’ll even say how hard it is to make at home…Not this one!
Kickin’ Sweet Southern Cornbread in a Pan:
For this recipe, I like to use my Gotham Steel 9.5 Inch Square Deep Pan.
It’s easy to use, can withstand high temperatures in the oven, and the bread slides out cleanly, due to its non-stick surface.
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Bake Time: 25 – 30 minutes
Yield: 1 dozen squares
The ingredients & instructions are listed below the video for measurements & directions. Please enjoy this webisode of Cooking with Kimberly:
Ingredients:
Instructions:
- Preheat oven & pan to 425 degrees F. Coat with butter or bacon fat, if desired.
- In a bowl, combine all dry ingredients and stir.
- In a separate bowl, break eggs and beat until frothy, then add milk or buttermilk and mix.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until blended. Allow to sit for 10 min to soften cornmeal.
- Pour mixture into preheated pan, and put in oven.
- Bake approximately 25 – 30 min, or until knife/skewer inserted into middle comes out clean.
- Remove from oven & let sit 5 minutes, before gently turning out.
- Slice into squares, and serve with butter & honey, as desired.
This cornbread is light, fluffy & as soft as they come. Perfect with butter melting into the crevasses of the bread.
The next time you crave cornbread, try my Kickin’ Sweet Southern Cornbread in a Pan!
