Get yourself prepared for Coffee Heaven with the NESCAFE Dolce Gusto machine.
You can win 1 in 6 of these fabulous machines that can brew you up a latte, capuccino or fancy hot chocolate with ease!
Whether you’re an incurable gourmet bevey drinker or if you’re trying to save money not going to Starbuck’s, the Dolce Gusto can help.
It professionally prepares your hot favorites: Caffè Lungo, Espresso, Americano, Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino, Iced Cappucino, Café Mocha, and even “Chococino” or hot chocolate for kids of all ages…
This single serve machine is designed with a 15-bar pressure system that’s comparable to what coffeehouses have to make that oh-so-important, crema layer and frothy milk.
Since it’s single serve, the Dolce Gusto prepares your hot drinks on a made-to-order basis, ensuring freshness.
Not a hot beverage type of person? No problem, it also makes your gourmet cold coffeehouse drinks too!
You’ll have complete control over the heat, froth and pressure with which your drinks are prepared.
Krups and T-Fal both make the Nescafe Dolce Gusto and they’re available in three different colors: candy-apple red, sophisticated black and a creamy white. The Dolce Gusto is priced between $179-199 and seems to me to be a steal of a deal.
Just think about how much money you could save making your drinks at home, not to mention the gas money you’ll save not having to drive to your favorite coffee pub.
So, get on over to the contest by clicking on the link above and enter online at Sweetspot.ca before December 20th, 2009.

The English and Tea
November 9, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Personally, I love English or British food, but many people often complain about their ideas about cuisine…
What expertise people can NEVER take away from the English is their tea!
(You might have seen my posts about my English Nanny and PG Tips! LOL)
They take their tea drinking very seriously…There are specific rules and times they sit down to have tea! It’s an important thread in the quilt of their existence.
I absolutely love tea and this appreciation started with my English nanny, Doreen.
The thing is, in addition, you can’t simply have tea without enjoying a “bickie” or biscuit. So, be sure you stock up on Christmas biscuits because ’tis the season!
The English are experts in tasty treats like that, namely shortbreads are my favorite.
Another thing my nanny always made sure of was that there were tasty candies around the house.
That may be why we love to make toffee and fudge this time of year.
So, this was intensified around the Holidays. So, in English spirit, break out your Christmas candy and enjoy them! Don’t save them for a special occassion – it is the most precious of occassions!
Looking for that English tea, biscuits and candies? I’ve found a place – the English Tea Store.

Health Benefits of Reishi Mushrooms

How Can Reishi Mushrooms Benefit You?
By Keith Kearney
It’s not a big secret that mushrooms have been known to be very good for you. Reishi mushrooms are one of the top three medicinal mushrooms that has been used for centuries in ancient Asian cultures. The great thing about the Reishi mushroom is the balance it gives to both your body and mind.
This ancient ingredient has been used to help treat many ailments such as liver disorders, bad circulation and for cardiovascular health. Though, the most common use for the Reishi mushroom is for people suffering from asthma or other respiratory problems. One study has shown that over two thousand people suffering from extreme bronchitis used these Reishi mushrooms in a cough syrup and almost all patients were feeling better within two weeks of this treatment.
This component has also shown that it can help improve hepatitis patients and reduce hypertension. One study testifies that nearly 92% of 355 study patients suffering from hepatitis showed improvement in their overall health. Though it helps treat many ailments, liver disease is the longest standing traditional utilization. Many chemotherapy patients have used Reishi mushrooms and noticed Read more

My English Nanny’s Tasty Tidbits
When I was young, I had an English nanny, Doreen. She was a rather influenial part of MyLife.
What an amazing lady that I loved so much. She was so sweet to me, my sister and my family! She always made sure we’d eaten and had something to drink in traditional English style, and that I was prim and proper in a clean, beautiful outfit!
I’ve spoken of her before on my blog when talking about making Southern Style Sweet Brewed Iced Tea:
My Story:
When I was little, I had an English nanny straight from England. The first time she offered to make my mother a cup of tea, at our house, she noticed that my mother didn’t have PG Tips tea. This is a British favorite and is imported from England, but is available at our grocery stores in Canada (especially A&P). She made quite a fuss about us not having the right kind of teabags, and said that we’ve never had a great cup of tea until we had PG Tips. Well, what followed was that she threw out all of our other brands of plain tea. When she came over the next day, she stocked us up with PG Tips. We’ve been believers ever since, and we always make sure we are stocked up to this day.
In addition to the PG Tips tea, which I’m drinking as we speak, she always gave me these English “bickies” or biscuits called Farley’s Rusks Biscuits. They’re about the size of a human palm and they’re especially for babies, toddlers and children.
You can eat them dry or as Doreen gave them to me, she’d put it in a bowl and pour hot milk on top of it and I’d eat it sort of like a hot cereal.
I have a box of them on my counter right now…They’re rather difficult to find these days. There are times I find them at Nordstrom’s, believe it or not.
She would always call me “her little Kimby”. I can hear her English accent in my head!
We have lost contact with her, but I’m pretty sure she must still be in the area. So, I checked to see if she was on MyLife.com – I couldn’t find her, but it was well worth the try – I mean, my mother and aunts are on Facebook…LOL…
Maybe you can find your lost friends or mentors in your life there…

If you’re in the market for a new coffee maker, consider the Cuisinart Stainless Steel Coffee Maker.
I love it because not only does it match the rest of our stainless steel appliances in our kitchen, but it’s heavy duty.

It’s programmable – you can program more than 1 time to brew.
When you fill it with water, and only want to heat it, say for tea, it only takes 4-5 minutes to finish! That’s so fast!

Lipton Cold Brew Tea Bags Review
August 12, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Are these for real? Do they really work? Do they taste good?
Well, I can say YES to all of the above questions.
When you use Lipton Cold Brew Tea Bags, there is no boiling necessary – you can use cold water.
* Tip: If you want to make sweet iced tea, be sure to fully stir the sugar into the water. It will take longer than you’re used to with hot tea, so by all means use warm water with these tea bags.
Just because these tea bags are Cold Brew, you can use them to brew hot tea as well.
They are very versatile.
Each tea bag will make 1 Read more

Great Resource for Loose Leaf Teas in Niagara Falls
April 21, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
I happened to notice an establishment on Lundy’s Lane today in Niagara Falls, Ontario that I hadn’t seen before.
I usually go to Teaopia at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines, as many of you know from previous posts, but I’m so happy to find this place!
LM Teas was formerly known as Lodi Market.
I am a serious darjeeling tea freak, so I needed to get some and noticed they were open.
I went in and saw hundreds of fabulous loose leaf teas, including 3 fantastic darjeelings of which I got a bag of each!
Try the SOOM Estate Darjeeling – it’s really great!
* Tip: Don’t forget to slightly cool your water from the boiling point before steeping darjeeling, and leave it only 3 minutes as opposed to the typical 5 minutes for black tea.
Also, I got to try a sample of their new Milk Oolong – what a flavor – it almost has a hint of a taste like Read more
