The 4th Friday of November is National Leftover Day!
Hallelujah! It’s the day after, the guests are gone, and the leftovers are delectable!
Of course, you have refrigerated everything you can.
I don’t enjoy reheated meat – it just tastes odd to me. So, the meat goes into the oven to be warmed just above room temperature.
There’s lots of stuffing & cranberry sauce leftover. Mashed potatoes – no problem…Just add a little milk & reheat on the stove or in a bain marie.
The salads are still crisp, sweet potatoes, mashed turnips, Brussel sprouts & corn can all be reheated in the microwave.
Since I always make extra pumpkin pie & lemon meringue pies, dessert with whipped cream is ready. Plus, any other Holiday baking you did, like cookies, bars & squares, are all still perfect, if you have any leftover at all.
We can all relax & enjoy the fruits of our labors today!
The next day, we welcome hot turkey sandwiches with gravy & veggies that are still quite plentiful.
The day after, you would think we’ve had enough – you’re right! Today, I make a big turkey a la King, and put it into the freezer for a day when I don’t feel like cooking or I’m rushed.
My husband would love to find some turkey breast slices and have a final sandwich with dressing & cranberries! A real treat.
National Leftover Day can be absolutely wonderful!
