Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day is November 19th, and who doesn’t enjoy a cold, fizzy pop?
What is it about caffeine & carbonated beverages that makes us want more & often?
Soda pop contains a delightful combination of both caffeine & carbonation, as well as huge amounts of sugar, in most soda pop.
The sugars give us an almost immediate high & energy, and the caffeine completes this energy boost, which encourages a reliance on these substances, and addicting us to the point that without them, we don’t feel ourselves…able to function properly.
You may think only the dark brown soda pops have caffeine in them, but Mountain Dew, gingerale & even Mello Yello has caffeine in them. On the other side of the coin, rootbeer doesn’t have caffeine, most of the time.
Caffeine’s a friendly, uplifting kind of thing, but once we “have to have it,” we can actually cause damage to our bodies, and we tend to consumer them in greater amounts.
One coffee, tea or soda a day can lead to drinking them to excess & here we can run into problems, as moderation is thrown to the wind. Some folks drink as many as 10 – 15 cups of coffee or tea, and always have a carbonated beverage on hand.
- FYI: Did you know that caffeine has been known to promote the formation of cellulite?
Don’t get me wrong…I’m a proponent of a tea or coffee first thing in the a.m., and a relaxing drink of one of these delicious beverages in the mid-afternoon, and no more after supper, as they can affect one’s sleep patterns. Caffeine can put you on edge, if ingested before bedtime, as tempting as that is.
Moderation is the key, and one can easily adapt to drinking water instead.
Be aware of the total amounts of carbonated beverages, and how much caffeine we are ingesting daily. You might surprise yourself at the amounts you are consuming.
When every other corner in your city seems to have a coffee shop, and most variety stores have their carbonated beverages near the candies, cigarettes & cash register, it’s difficult to resist the temptation to give in to partake in a cold, fizzy, bubbly bevvy.
