Before we get into what not to eat, it’s important to know about the disease and why you want to stop it in its tracks.
Take it from someone who has suffered from arthritis for a number of years…
Arthritis is a disease that is painful and debilitating affecting each victim differently, and leading to severe inflammatory episodes including crippling of the joints.
Treatments & medications are variable and inconclusive.
Avoid foods and conditions that trigger painful episodes. After the crippling, you can be headed toward complete joint deterioration.
Make the necessary changes early on to stem the progression of arthritis.
6 Foods to Avoid if You Have Arthritis
This list, again, is just a few important things to that are easy to remember and you can concentrate on to start feeling, hopefully, much better.
1. Sugars & Refined Carbohydrates:
These come in pre-packaged products such as baked goods, including breads. Preparing your own is best.
This includes cheeses, which affects joint issues negatively. Limit dairy intake.
Although vegetarian diets are best for those that suffer, it’s difficult for many to embrace this lifestyle. Avoid Omega-6 rich foods like red meats, and sticking with Omega-3 foods is beneficial.
4. Salt & Preservatives:
Your salt shakers should be retired and salt seriously reduced in your baking and cooking. * A side note: Use marinades only in moderation.
Drink copious amounts of water and only juices that you squeeze yourself without any additives.
6. Fried Foods & Pre-Packaged Meat Products:
These are loaded with additives that are harmful for persons with arthritis.
Those foods include things like chicken fingers, fish sticks, burgers, etc. Since these form your main courses, you tend to consume more of these products. It’s best to prepare such foods yourself eliminating unhealthy additions.
Using your imagination, try baked French fries instead of deep frying, just into suitable strips, brushed sparingly with olive oil and popped into the oven at 350 degrees F for 20-25 min, flipping halfway through.
So, you can help yourself feel better by making sure these 6 Foods to Avoid with Arthritis are not on your plate, or in your glass.
