What in the World Would You Like to Find Inside of an Oyster?

I was asked today…

“If an oyster could produce something other than a pearl, what in the world do you think would be a cool thing to find in an oyster?”

I explored a lot of options, including diamonds, my favorite food, lobster…even the whimsical, like music or sunshine…but since I was in an Easter mood…

pysanka.JPG…What if you went and collected a bunch of Gulf oysters, and opened one up, only to be gifted with a Beautifully decorated Easter egg? How cool would that be? (I’m a little biased as I am 1/2 Ukrainian…)

Have you seen Ukrainian Easter eggs? The method of decorating these gorgeous treasures is called “pysanka”.

The designs on the eggs are not actually painted on, but written on with beeswax in the wax-resist method.

It is tradition in many Eastern European countries to decorate eggs for Easter.

Okay…since you will likely never find a Ukrainian Easter egg inside of a lovely oyster, I did find some great recipes that include both oysters and eggs on the BeOysterAware.com recipe page, including Oyster Cakes and Oyster Quiche…

* FYI: Oysters are a low calorie protein, have omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and vitamin B-12…Plus, they are soooo tasty!

  1. I’d like to find the country that I grew up in. Or, failing that, a tootsie pop.

Also, by special request, wine suggestions for oysters: Champagne or Muscadet.

  2. Another oyster to open up….LOL.

    Honestly, I am stumped.

  3. No money, no assortment of women, but a way that I can speak any language even its dialects. As soon as I would hear the words of the other person. I would instantly able 2 speak w/ them. Reason is, cause seems as the electronic age has consumed us 2 b more alone than ever. we lost that fine art of actual person 2 person communication. It’s where u can’t even say hello 2 a stranger either verbally and/or w/ a head nod. What a real shame.
