Ontario Dirty Potatoes are now available at Harvest Barn Country Markets!
Take a look at this interesting, heirloom variety of potato.
They look all scruffy with flakey skin, and appear to be dirty, but don’t worry…These potatoes cook up well and are very tasty.
Find out about this product on this webisode of What I Say About Food:
These dirty potatoes came straight from the dirt to our local Harvest Barn Country Market in Niagara on the Lake, which is one of their two locations here in southern Ontario. The other location is in St. Catharines, and they can be found online at HarvestBarn.ca.
Since Harvest Barn Country Markets try, as much as possible to stock and offer produce and other items from within a 100 mile radius, I feel secure that they support local farmers and businesses, thus reducing the toll that transporting goods over long distances takes on the environment. I hope that each of my readers makes it a habit to check labels on every food item they purchase to see that it also comes from within 100 miles of their homes.
Reducing our carbon footprint and greenhouse gases, as much as possible, is something we should all try to do. You don’t have to turn your life upside down to do this, just take small steps and that will be something to build on. A lot of somethings are better than a whole lot of nothings! Let’s all work together to keep our planet healthy for ourselves, our children and future generations and eat healthier with fresher foods.
Do check out Harvest Barn Country Markets and see how fresh and beautiful their stock of produce looks as they offer it to you at optimal ripeness. It’s ready to eat and to nourish your family.
Their markets also carry a variety of baked goods, dairy products, beautiful sauces and canned goods as well as ready to eat food from their food bar. Stop in on your way home from work and pick up something delicious at Harvest Barn Country Markets.
