This is what I say about Ontario Cantaloupe at Harvest Barn Country Markets.

Just take a look at this lovely specimen of an Ontario cantaloupe.

According to my Mom, the cantaloupe should be somewhat spongy at the stem area and pleasantly golden with a delicious, musky aroma.

When you cut into the cantaloupe, see how gloriously golden and juicy it is. We try to keep cantaloupe on hand during the summer months, when you can get these Ontario grown beauties, and I like to use them when I’m juicing as they add a nice flavor and color to the juices.

This cantaloupe is so sweet, juicy and ripe to perfection that I just don’t think it can get any better. Packed full of vitamins and other good stuff, cantaloupes are a good choice for your daily fruit intake, as well as for juicing alone or mixed with other fruit, such as apples or pears.

Mom tells me that the strings among the seeds from the cantaloupe, together with some of the juice makes a good anti-aging facial mask. I do know that it is full of antioxidants and that, according to information I have heard, that cantalope and other melons have anti-aging properties – just something I thought I would share with you.

I got this cantaloupe at my local Harvest Barn Country Market in Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is one of their two locations in southern Ontario, with the other location being in St. Catharines.
