Sweetened Condensed Milk in my Tea

Kimberly Edwards in the kitchen - http://CookingWithKimberly.comHow do you like your morning tea?

As you know, I love tea. It’s one of my favorite indulgences, and I’m very specific on how I like my tea, especially my staple, orange pekoe black tea, PG Tips.

I like it the same way every time, except on rare occasions.  Typically, I have 2 sugars and a quick drop of milk.

However, when I’m in a “mood” or we are out of milk in the refrigerator, I will venture into the pantry, grab a can of sweetened condensed milk, such as that Eagle Brand you’re used to seeing, and voila…another great way to drink my PG Tips tea.

Kimberly Edwards' Tea - http://CookingWithKimberly.comI use either 2 tsp sweetened condensed milk when it’s room temperature, or a large heaping tsp, if I’m taking it out of the refrigerator because it’s cold and doesn’t flow the same.

You can either cover the can with plastic wrap and leave it for the day, so it stays more liquified, or put it into the refrigerator to store the rest of the can. It keeps very well in the fridge, in fact.

Well, it stands to reason why it’s so perfect…I only use this instead of both milk & sugar. The flavor is still “neutral”-ish, just sweetening & making it milky, but it has a slightly more developed flavor than straight sugar and milk.

If you’ve ever had Thai tea or coffee, they tend to use sweetened condensed milk too, as well as in their desserts.

Try it in your coffee or tea and let us know if you like it, or maybe even prefer it to milk & sugar.
