Orlando – A Fantastic Foodie Destination!

My husband & I went to Orlando for our “honeymoon” and we had an absolute blast!!!

There are so many things to do in Orlando, but since we are both foodies, we concentrated on our culinary experiences and ate VERY well in Orlando…Every dinner seemed to be better than the last! We had a lot of local fare, but also went to some of the dinner theater experiences, like Medieval Times, which was an absolute blast!

Probably the most fun food experience we had was at Orlando’s Sea World at the “Polynesian Luau”.

woodencarving.jpgWhat a super enjoyable evening we had! It is usually held outside, but it happened to rain that night, which caused us to be worried about if this would be any fun…

To our pleasant surprise, what a fabulous experience we had! The dinner was all-inclusive with 2 alcoholic drinks included. We sat at large tables surrounding a huge stage and were served amazing Polynesian delicacies family-style, letting us “bond” with the people around us…

pinacolada.jpgThe meal included an island salad, mahi-mahi in a pina colada-type sauce, Hawaiian chicken, Polynesian-style barbecue spareribs, Polynesian fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, gorgeous desserts and drinks…Of course, we had pina coladas all night!

We were entertained the entire night by hula dancers, wahini warriors showcasing war dances, cries and breathtaking firedancing! My husband got on stage and participated by getting to play the drums! My newly found friends at our table got me on stage to hula dance…Children even got to learn a special dance on stage! What a way to experience and enjoy the culture from many of the different islands in the Polynesian triangle! Fabulous food, fantastic fun!!!

I always highly recommend anyone checking this Makahiki Luau dinner and show…
