Lower Fat: How to Make Milk Glaze for Desserts

Here is an alternative to those higher fat glazes you can opt to make for your sweets, and save a little on those dastardly love handles we carry around – Milk Glaze.

Perfect for topping Hot Cross Buns, drizzled over berries, or atop Rice Krispie treats you’re eating right away.

Such a simple recipe, and perfect for those times you totally forgot about a topping or buying icing at the store. Don’t fret…here’s your kitchen solution!

Type: Dessert Recipe
Serve with: hot cross buns, fresh berries, other dessert treats
Prep Time: 4 min
Yield: Enough to cover 18 buns

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 2.75 tsp milk – warm
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle on the treats of your choice.

  1. This makes a very thin drizzle, try using less milk and gradually adding more as needed for the thickness you want. You can see the drips on the plate which means a thing mixture.

      It gives us a great deal more control on the amount of extra calories we are adding on top of a treat.
