Julie and Julia – Cooking Movie Review
Okay people…
You KNOW I had to see the movie, “Julie & Julia“, don’t you?
Well, my hubby, Jessica and I went to watch it last night in the theater!
It was absolutely delicious! I could relate to Julie Powell on so many levels with her cooking blog and working her way through Julia Child’s
Mastering the Art of French Cooking
as I have done over the years too.
I haven’t cooked all 524 recipes, mind you, but I have cooked quite a few.
There were so many mentions and references of Irma Rombauer’s “Joy of Cooking”, which is absolutely my very favorite cookbook of all time…Check out my post: The Best Cookbook on the Market
Amy Adams played the role of Julie Powell wonderfully and I don’t think they could have cast a better Julia Child than with Meryl Streep! She really portrayed Julia Child so well with the way she looked, walked, her accent and voice pitch, as well as her nuances in the kitchen!
The movie intertwines the lives of both Julie and Julia, in different spaces and times, in this tasty, true story tale.
No doubt, Julia Child is my favorite chef, not only because she is a woman, but that she was so “real” with what she did.
I love her motto that you need not give reasons or make excuses to people when you make a mistake. She was probably the most adorable chef ever…Such a sweet personality and so accessible for everyone.
Julia Child demystified the world of French cooking for everyone else who’s not French! Just a beautiful person.
Anyway, I absolutely loved the movie and it now tops my favorite food movies of all time in front of Ratatouille, Chocolat, Fast Food Nation and SuperSize Me.
