A super easy summertime (or anytime) recipe, refreshing & addictive.
This recipe calls for the use of a concentrated liquid called bitters to give this particular Grapefruit Lemonade it’s distinctive grapefruit flavor.
Bitters are an ingredient of “olden times”, that have been consistently used in the bar industry forever for cocktails of many varieties.
Now getting a new breath of life in food culture around the world with new, bitters of fun flavors that take your taste buds for a swirl are the new “hotness”.
Anything tart, tangy & sweet makes me happy. Put that on ice! 😉
You may use fresh grapefruit in this recipe as well, but this is just another web chef idea for the real life cook…

Prep Time: 5 mins
Yield: 1 gallon

- 3 lemons
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 gallon water
- 8-12 dashes grapefruit bitters – I use Fee Bros. Grapefruit Bitters.
Instructions:
- Halve and juice the lemons, reserving pulp if desired, and removing seeds.
- Add lemon juice, pulp (if desired), sugar and water to a 1 gallon pitcher.
- Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Add 8-12 dashes grapefruit bitters to the pitcher or a 1-2 dashes to each glass before you serve it.
- Serve with ice or cool in refrigerator.
