Be Sure You Can See Clearly When You Cook
I have a funny story that just happened this past week.
My mother made me some homemade chicken soup after I had surgery.
I mentioned to her that I thought the rice she put in the soup was nice.
She was absolutely certain that she had put barley in the soup, not rice.
However, being the “foodie” that I am…LOL…, I knew it was rice by the taste and the texture of the grain.
That night, I was cleaning up a few things in the kitchen and noticed the bag that my mom used…It was risotto, which could look similar to barley, if you don’t have your contact lenses in or glasses on…LOL
* The Moral to this Story: Please be sure you can see properly when you are cooking. Wear your contact lenses or glasses when you’re in the kitchen.
The thing is, even if you have your lenses in, they may be overdue for a change, and you may be seeing things more “cloudy” or you may not feel like wearing them because your eyes are stinging…
…Guess what! You need to reorder some more contacts. There is a super easy way to do it online at the AC Lens blog. You can order lenses from A-Z quickly and easily with free shipping over $89. You can even order them for someone else – I’ll have to get on there to get my mom some more quickly…LOL
This time wasn’t the “end of the world”, as chicken soup is lovely with rice in it…
…But, just imagine if you added sugar instead of salt; cayenne pepper instead of cinnamon; balsamic vinegar instead of port wine. Imagine if you made a mistake while you’re cutting with a knife and really hurt yourself…
You get the picture. This could be a “disastrous” event.
If you keep forgetting how long you’ve had your contacts for, you may want to check out LensAlert to help you keep track of how long you’ve been wearing your contacts and how long you’ve been using the same lens case. Not only that, Women’s World recommends it in the “Products We Love” section.
(I’ve had my lens case for a very long time; I didn’t realize you were supposed to change it out often. Ooops!)
It’s important to see your food and what you’re doing in the kitchen.
Plus, food is so beautiful in and of itself, you want to be able to experience the entire meal, even aesthetically. There’s something grand of eating something that looks beautiful.
