A Champion’s Kitchen: Ode to Hot Sauce

Super Bowl XLVIII is around the corner on February 2nd, 2014, and you will find hot sauce on tables around the globe!

Hot sauce is a condiment of champions. It’s hot, spicy goodness spiked with flavor & high octane, goes perfectly in breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as savory beverages.

Whether store bought or homemade, hot sauce spruces up broiled or grilled meats, dips, vegetables, side dishes, soups, stews & chilies.

Do you love Mexican Food? How about Asian? Are you a New Yorker-foodie? Hot sauces pop up all over the world, as people fall in love with the hot, spicy goodness, as well as the tasty messiness this liquid-fire provides.

You will also find hot sauce on my counter top in some form, as well as in my refrigerator. It seems at every turn, I’m looking to spice things up in the kitchen!

From chicken wings to noodles, pizza to gumbo, breakfast burritos to spicy Caesars, steak subs to curries, hot sauce accompanies savory foods so well, picks up flat flavors & adds tang due to the addition of vinegar in these spicy goods.

The last instance I used hot sauce was in a stellar guacamole recipe, and the day before, in hummus.

Whether it’s straight hot peppers, or a mixture of berries or different spices, hot sauces are as varied as our tastes.

Hot sauce is a staple the World over.
