My new friend and neighbor, Melania McCarley, from Dallas, Texas made us this recipe this weekend and she told us it was “killer”.
Once we tasted it, we completely agreed – Wow! Amazing pico…
Melania is originally from Costa Rica where they call this mixture chimichurri.
Try it – you’ll love it – I begged her for the recipe so I could share it with you, and be able to make it whenever we want now!

GE Single Burner: Kitchen Product Review
August 28, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
I wanted to share our experiences with our GE Single Burner we bought for cooking in our fixer upper investment property while it’s being repaired.
It works very well…
Be careful though…the entire appliance gets very hot, so don’t touch anything, but the temperature dial, when it’s heating.
It has an off position, a low and half of the dial is adjustable up to the high mark.
It’s great for cooking eggs in a frying pan, even ground meat for chili or Sloppy Joe’s.
It works very well for reheating or heating vegetables, soups and the like.
The GE Single Burner heats water almost to boiling, so you can get away with heating water for tea or instant coffee.
However, don’t try to Read more

Whole Foods Market 365 Brand Organic Milk Review
August 27, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
If you want a great glass of milk, first of all, go organic!
Secondly, try the 365 brand organic milk, which is Whole Foods Market’s own brand.
It’s creamy, you cannot taste that “antibiotic flavor” most milks on the market have nowadays that aren’t organic.
The milk makes everything you use it with taste even more unbelievably delicious!
Cereal tastes better, cream and cheese sauces are more wonderful, chocolate milk is fantastic and tea with this milk in it is divine!
I know what you’re thinking…”Buying organic is so much more expensive!”
Not so – In fact, I was in a pinch the other day and had to buy a small milk, much smaller than that which we get at Whole Foods Market, and it was nearly double the price of a larger 365 brand organic milk.
Seriously, a 1 qt bottle runs us around Read more

Chefmate Cookware Stainless Steel Frying Pan Review
August 24, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
I Love Love Love this cookware item!
Everyone needs an entirely stainless steel frying pan, in my opinion.
It’s great on the stove, single burner and even in the oven because the handle is made of stainless steel.
You could even make cornbread in the oven in this frying pan!
This is the non-stick version of the Chefmate frying pan:
Since it’s stainless steel, you can’t scratch it with metal utensils like flippers, tongs or spoons, like you would with Teflon or another non-stick coated pan.
I believe it’s 14″ in diameter, it has a high lip, but not too high and the lip is angled, not straight up and down…handy for making crepes, omelets and the like.
The lip is high enough that you can Read more

Healthy School Lunches – Be Ready for Back to School
August 23, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Instead of sending your child through the cafeteria line with a $10 bill each day for school, get into the trend of packing them a healthy lunch.
Healthy is in right now, as is budgeting. So, your child will not be the only one brown bagging or bento box-ing lunch this year!
Keeping your kids healthy should be of paramount importance to you and here’s how you can improve their lunches…the easy way!
Think of food in 6 Groups:
1. Whole Grains – whole-grain sandwich bread or pita, pasta or brown rice are good examples.
2. Fruits – apples, melon, grapes, berries, fruit juice, 100% fruit spread will all work well.
3. Calcium – That’s your dairy foods like milk, yogurt, cheese, tofu, soy milk, but also dark leafy greens, beans and almonds or almond butter – even 100% orange juice.
4. Healthy Fats – like nuts and nut butters, avocado, salmon, flax seeds or oil, extra virgin olive oil
