Orlando – A Fantastic Foodie Destination!

March 28, 2008 by Kimberly · 4 Comments

My husband & I went to Orlando for our “honeymoon” and we had an absolute blast!!!

There are so many things to do in Orlando, but since we are both foodies, we concentrated on our culinary experiences and ate VERY well in Orlando…Every dinner seemed to be better than the last! We had a lot of local fare, but also went to some of the dinner theater experiences, like Medieval Times, which was an absolute blast!

Probably the most fun food experience we had was at Orlando’s Sea World at the “Polynesian Luau”.

woodencarving.jpgWhat a super enjoyable evening we had! It is usually held outside, but it happened to rain that night, which caused us to be worried about if this would be any fun…

To our pleasant surprise, what a fabulous experience we had! The dinner was all-inclusive with 2 alcoholic drinks included. We sat at large tables surrounding a huge stage and were served amazing Polynesian delicacies family-style, letting us “bond” with the people around us…

pinacolada.jpgThe meal included an island salad, mahi-mahi in a pina colada-type sauce, Hawaiian chicken, Polynesian-style barbecue spareribs, Polynesian fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, gorgeous desserts and drinks…Of course, we had pina coladas all night!

We were entertained the entire night by hula dancers, wahini warriors showcasing war dances, cries and breathtaking firedancing! My husband got on stage and participated by getting to play the drums! My newly found friends at our table got me on stage to hula dance…Children even got to learn a special dance on stage! What a way to experience and enjoy the culture from many of the different islands in the Polynesian triangle! Fabulous food, fantastic fun!!!

I always highly recommend anyone checking this Makahiki Luau dinner and show…

Food Fun – Find Out How Much Caffeine You’ve Got In Your System

March 28, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment

Today’s post is just a little something fun I posted on my Kimberly-Edwards.com site! Enjoy…

Art Poster Print - Green Tea - Artist: D. Thornton- Poster Size: 18 X 24Well, if you know me, you’ll know that I’m crazy about green tea…

Contrary to popular belief, probably because green tea is touted to be such a healthy drink for you, green tea has lots of caffeine in it…If you stopped drinking regular black tea because you were trying to cut caffeine out…well, let me tell you that this is not the case.

However, Green Tea has many antioxidants and is good for you nonetheless…

I found a neat test for you to try to see how “caffeined up” you get…LOL…I was deemed a “vibrating crackhead”…I was wondering why I can get so much done and talk so much after I’ve had my green tea…LOL

Check it out:

Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookie Mix Review

March 27, 2008 by Kimberly · 1 Comment

I have been craving homemade peanut butter cookies for a few weeks now, but have been fighting off my craving…

I happened to be at the grocery store yesterday picking up a few things, and saw a peanut butter cookie mix by Betty Crocker…I thought, well, it won’t take much time to make…easy…I can have some cookies…

So, I tried it:

dsc00327.JPGThe mix makes 18 cookies and all you need to add is water and oil.

They are really easy and quick to make, and the instructions worked perfectly.

Photo left: Pre-baked Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookies

FYI: I often use parchment paper to cover my cookie sheets, as I did this time, and instead of the suggested 8-10 min for a shiny metal cookie sheet, or the 7-9 min for a dark or non-stick cookie sheet, it actually took 16 min on the parchment.

dsc00328.JPGAs I can never do things in a normal way, I added green m&ms, for spring, to the mix. These were wonderful in the peanut butter cookies!

Even my mother, who maintains that she doesn’t really like m&ms, really Read more

If You Were An Oyster, Where Would You Shop?

March 22, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment

Where Do Oysters Shop?

…At the Mollusk!!! LOL LOL LOL

That’s right…Oysters are bivalve mollusks in the animal world…Get it? The Mollusk (Mall-usk)? LOL

***

I am not sure who the first person was that looked at an oyster and said, “Mmmmm…That looks tasty! I want to eat that…” was, but I am certainly glad they were brave enough to do so!

It’s also a good thing that that particular person was not actually allergic to the oyster…It may have been a lost food source, and we would all be missing out on this delicious treat!

Unfortunately, many people are allergic to raw oysters, some extremely allergic…

Be safe…Be aware…if you may be at risk for eating raw Gulf oysters.

According to the BeOysterAware.com website, at risk individuals include those with Read more
