You Can Grow Gourmet Mushrooms at Home
December 7, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Yes, you can grow your very own gourmet mushrooms at home over and over again.
Mushroom patches can be started by logs already prepared or with kits you purchase.
I had compiled a list of products for my new friend, Lynn Ogryzlo – author of Niagara Cooks, and figured I’d share it with the rest of the world of food lovers out there that frequent my blog.
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love mushrooms and try to figure out ways to incorporate them into dishes all the time. They’re so healthy for your immune system!
However, I find that my frequent shopping trips to the grocer can prove to be expensive when buying gourmet mushrooms.
These are marvelous gifts for food lovers, especially at Christmas, and you can keep growing mushrooms over and over again…

- One 9-10″ Shiitake Mushroom Log – $19.95

Whole Foods Market 365 Brand Organic Milk Review
August 27, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
If you want a great glass of milk, first of all, go organic!
Secondly, try the 365 brand organic milk, which is Whole Foods Market’s own brand.
It’s creamy, you cannot taste that “antibiotic flavor” most milks on the market have nowadays that aren’t organic.
The milk makes everything you use it with taste even more unbelievably delicious!
Cereal tastes better, cream and cheese sauces are more wonderful, chocolate milk is fantastic and tea with this milk in it is divine!
I know what you’re thinking…”Buying organic is so much more expensive!”
Not so – In fact, I was in a pinch the other day and had to buy a small milk, much smaller than that which we get at Whole Foods Market, and it was nearly double the price of a larger 365 brand organic milk.
Seriously, a 1 qt bottle runs us around Read more

Wallaby Organic Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt Review
August 11, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Have you tried Wallaby brand yogurt?
We did and we were so glad we did! Truly…
This Creamy Australian Style Yogurt was delightful in Vanilla.
It wasn’t like many low fat yogurts that seem to be runny or skimp on flavor.
It was rich and creamy in texture, as promised.
The way they come up with this flavor and texture is by their small batch cooking process, which also includes long culturing and gentle handling.
The result is a very Read more

How to Grill Buffalo Burgers – My First Taste
August 7, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
When I say “Buffalo”, I don’t mean the city, although I live very close to Buffalo!
I mean the wild animal roaming the plains of North America – well, they used to anyway.
Now, they’re farmed for their hide and meat.
Kenney and I decided to make Buffalo Burgers the other night after seeing that the price at Whole Foods Market was the same as the ground beef.
What’s wonderful about buffalo meat is that it’s very lean and tasty meat that’s not at all gamey when you buy it in stores.
They made some beautiful burgers for the grill.
How Did I Season Those Buffalo Burgers?
This time, I went pretty plain because I really wanted to enjoy the subtleties of the meat itself without anything changing the flavor.
I used some pepper, a tiny bit of sea salt and a little bit of freshly minced garlic.
Since it’s a lean meat, it doesn’t have much fat in it to keep it from sticking on your grill. So, be sure to use a Read more
