Taco Cabana in Rockwall, Texas: Dallas Restaurant Review

October 9, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment

South of the Border Mexican and Taco Seasoning Large Family SizeMy hubby and I often sneak off to Taco Cabana during the day if we need a quick meal while we’re working on fixing up a property or simply running around doing errands.

For lunch today, that’s exactly what we did.

We stopped at the Taco Cabana in Rockwall, Texas (Dallas) off I-30 by the lake.

It sure looked like a nice location and everything was clean and new.

We ordered our usual favorite – Bean and Cheese tacos with green salsa for me, and red salsa for Kenney.

In general, we love Taco Cabana’s refried beans because they’re so flavorful and smooth and the tortillas are so fluffy, warm and fresh. However, today, they had absolutely no flavor whatsoever…it’s like they forgot to season them at all.

So, I loaded them up with the green salsa, and that had no flavor at all either…

Thinking it was just Read more

Chipotle Steak Salad Bowl Rocks: Dallas Restaurant Review

October 8, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment

Chipotle : 0890878285I’ve never had a Chipotle restaurant meal that I didn’t love.

Their burritos are huge like FreeBirds, their salad bowls are my favorite, burrito bowls look amazing, etc.

They have chicken, steak, ground beef, barbacoa and I believe one other type of meat to choose from.

I always grab a salad bowl…they’re so filling even though it’s salad. They come with their signature Chipotle-Honey vinaigrette that’s superb.

* Tip: Don’t forget to ask for rice, and if you want both types of Read more

Barrilitos Pineapple Soda Review

April 26, 2009 by Kimberly · 5 Comments

Art Poster Print - Pineapple - Artist: Claire Pavlik Purgus- Poster Size: 11 X 14When I was in Dallas in December last year, we often have a man that comes around with his wife’s amazing Mexican dishes to sell for breakfast or lunch.

Usually, he has 3 different kinds of homemade gorditas for us, but…

…This particular time, we got 1 dozen homemade tamales, which were the best I have ever eaten in my life by the way, and he always has really interesting drinks and sodas that we don’t find in stores.

This time, I opted for the Barrilitos brand pineapple soda, and I am so glad I did!

This soda, although Read more

I must admit, when tailgating days come around, I’m happy to let Kenney cook!

I love “manly-man” food and he always has something flavorful, usually Tex-Mex in nature that’s fantastic!

However, if no one else “mans up”, then I’m cooking it up too!

Find out what we’re eating today for SuperBowl XLIII:

Be Prepared for Leftover Turkey ahead of time!!!

Need to eat a “little bit healthy” during and between the holidays? This is one delicious, Tex-Mex soup that will have you feeling warm all over!

This recipe may use a bunch of ingredients and takes two hours, but it is sooooo worth it…believe me!

My husband is a track & field decathlete, and always needs low-cal, low-fat alternatives for meals. Now, he is a Southern man through-and-through and loves his soul food, so this is a great negotiation of flavor and healthy eating! Enjoy!

Blue Goose Cantina – Best Mexican Food in Dallas – Restaurant Review

July 16, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment

Lana Goose Organic Stuffed Animal in BlueIf you’re looking for some amazing Mexican food in Dallas, Texas, you need look no further than the Blue Goose.

From my understanding, they have 3 locations in Dallas, but we have been to the Addison location on Midway Road.

Wow Wow Wow! Try their Beef Brisket tacos…served with fresh cilantro, au jus, Mexican rice and refried beans…I get this EVERY TIME! I keep looking on the menu for something that I would want more and always fall back on these babies!

Kenney, this last time, got a sampler…God Bless him…LOL!

It consisted of a Blue Goose tamale (Wowie…too good!), a Chicken Enchilada with Salsa Verde sauce (OMGoodness) and a tostada (really fresh and simple), served with Mexican rice and refried beans.

Their refried beans alone are worth the trip! Yum! Salsa verde rocks…the best I’ve had!

They also serve some great freshly made salsa with hot corn tortilla chips! Yummy!!!

Bubble Margarita Glass and Salter Set - Green Margarita Glasses - Set of 4 with SalterBest of all, if this wasn’t enough, they have THEE BEST Margaritas I have ever had…EVER! I am a serious Margarita lover, so this is definitely saying a lot! They run $2 Margarita specials from Monday – Friday! Check it out!

We have always been impressed and completely satisfied and satiated when we leave! It is also very reasonably priced!

If you’re craving some serious Mexican, check out the Blue Goose Cantina!
