Searching for Foodie Friend – Keiko Okuno from Japan
October 8, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Back in 1994 and 1995, I lived in Australia. In the Fall of 1995 in Australia, I did a lot of traveling to Central Australia, up to the Northern Territory and back down the coast West following it all the way back to Perth.
When I was visiting Exmouth, Western Australia, I roomed with a girl from Japan at our accomodations named “Keiko Okuno”…
She was about my age – so, she’d be between 33-35 now, I believe. We wrote to each other for a few years after we’d met each other as we had a blast hanging out and visiting the local food spots together.
I’ve been searching for her to write to her for many years now as we’ve lost contact. I got married over 10 years ago and my maiden name changed to Edwards from Turner. She’s probably married too and may be living somewhere other than Japan, as Keiko was quite an adventurous girl.
I’ve done a few searches and I’m not sure if I’ve found her or not on MyLife.
If any of you know my foodie friend, Keiko, let me know or let her know…
One thing I remember about Keiko is that she had the coolest suitcase…LOL…It was a very large, hard-sided suitcase, which was so new and inventive back in the mid-90s!!!
Do you have a long, lost friend or ex that you’re looking for or are you wondering if others are searching for you? Maybe you have an old road-dog or foodie friend you miss!
You have the ability to search and see who’s maybe looking for you too at MyLife.

Wallaby Organic Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt Review
August 11, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Have you tried Wallaby brand yogurt?
We did and we were so glad we did! Truly…
This Creamy Australian Style Yogurt was delightful in Vanilla.
It wasn’t like many low fat yogurts that seem to be runny or skimp on flavor.
It was rich and creamy in texture, as promised.
The way they come up with this flavor and texture is by their small batch cooking process, which also includes long culturing and gentle handling.
The result is a very Read more

My Favorite Australian Fruit
January 26, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
What is My Favorite Australian Fruit?
The dark purple passion fruit!
Before I lived in Australia, I had never seen the likes of a passion fruit, let alone tasted a freshly ripened one.
Honest to Goodness…it’s the most delicious fruit I’ve ever eaten!
Literally, we had so many of them, as there were passion fruit plants all around the backyard where I lived. I could just go outside and pick them right there!
It has to be dark and wrinkly to be completely ripe.
Then, you slice it in half, take a spoon and scoop our the golden insides and the fabulous seeds!
I could seriously bathe in this stuff! I love it!

Calamari – Australian Style
January 26, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
What was my very favorite thing I ate when I was in Australia?
If I was pinned down to have to answer this, I would say it was the calamari!
I’d never had calamari any differently than the breaded and fried version, as you would get at Olive Garden here in America.
They don’t make it like this in Aussieland, unless you go to a fish & chips shop…No, No, No!
Otherwise, they’ll skin the squid and take out it’s inner “bone”. Then, you can either leave it whole or slice it, as they do to deep fry them. Don’t forget that you can also eat the tentacles! Yum!
However, instead of deep frying it, they Read more
