Is Your College Newbie Campus Ready?
August 12, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Going to college or university can be a nerve racking experience. It can be both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

As my mother explains to me, it was even more terrifying and exciting for her to send me to school. Not only would she miss me, but she was proud of me and even more so, worried about me that I’d be eating, getting my studying in, and that I would be safe and do well. Most of all, she wanted me to be happy all the while.
So, for those parents who might be a little worried, I want to share with you the new capabilities you have when you shop at Sears for your college-goer.
Is Your College Newbie CampusReady?
Say, for instance, all of a sudden, your student has left the house and gone to school and forgot to bring a toaster or crock pot.
No problem, go online to Sears.com, purchase whatever it is your university newbie needs and at checkout, choose the “Web2Store” option.
This will allow you to pay for the items and choose the Sears closest to your son or daughter’s campus, so they can pick it up at their convenience. No need to pay for shipping or driving it all the way out to them to Florida from Pennsylvania – unless you miss them that much you need an “reason or excuse” to see them – and check up on them…LOL
Simple – Easy! I know you’re worried they’re going to be either eating junk or not eating at all. It’s going to be alright…
…They’ll eat if they’re hungry – so, that’s not a problem. As for eating junk, that might be inevitable in college, but you can always send them here, to CookingWithKimberly.com for really easy, healthy, simple dishes they can make in their toaster oven, microwave, crock pot or in the community kitchen in their dorms.
Just use the search function for the key words you want and voila – email them the link, Stumble it to them on Stumble Upon, or Facebook them! Oh yeah, be sure to check out the CampusReady app on Facebook too!
Also, since college tuition continues to rise, be sure to enter for a chance to win money towards your child’s college education from Sears and Upromise. There will be a total of $25,000 awarded, so why not get in on the action?
Now, if you’re already a Upromise member, like we are, you are automatically entered to win with every Sears purchase with your registered card. However, you can also go to Sears.com/campusready to enter for free and see full rules and complete details.

Barrilitos Pineapple Soda Review
April 26, 2009 by Kimberly · 5 Comments
When I was in Dallas in December last year, we often have a man that comes around with his wife’s amazing Mexican dishes to sell for breakfast or lunch.
Usually, he has 3 different kinds of homemade gorditas for us, but…
…This particular time, we got 1 dozen homemade tamales, which were the best I have ever eaten in my life by the way, and he always has really interesting drinks and sodas that we don’t find in stores.
This time, I opted for the Barrilitos brand pineapple soda, and I am so glad I did!
This soda, although Read more

Did You See Butterball’s Treatment of Turkeys?
February 8, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Last night, we happened upon a show about Peta’s undercover investigations, including one of a Butterball slaughter house in Arkansas.
Unbelievably disgusting and horrific treatment of the turkeys awaiting slaughter!
You have to see it to understand what I’m talking about!
* Warning: Be prepared for the graphic images and topic portrayed in the video…It’s difficult to watch, but necessary…
I won a Butterball turkey for Christmas last, and feel almost Read more

Apply for a “Foodie” Neighborhood Beautification Grant Now
January 7, 2009 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
Today, I “stumbled” across this information that I was going to post on our BlogNButter.com/homeandgardening blog, but…then, IT HIT ME at how great this info could be to you, my beloved foodies!
Check it out:
Project Orange Thumb is a neighborhood beautification project where within the U.S. and Canada, 20 grants of $1,500 in Fiskars gardening tools and up to $800 in gardening-related materials (green goods). Plus, 4 grants will be awarded for Australia with $1,000 in gardening tools and up to $1,000 in gardening materials.
So, they’ll give money to create a neighborhood garden or to improve an already existing one! How cool is that?
What Does That Mean to Foodies?
Well, with a Project Orange Thumb grant, who says you couldn’t plant an organic vegetable and herb garden with edible flowers for the neighborhood to share…a “share-crop”, if you like!
How unbelievably neat would that be, especially to those of you who are foodies that love to cook!
As for those who don’t cook, they will be able to observe the beautiful flowers and plants, not to mention attracting more healthy bees to the neighborhood and beautiful butterflies and birds.
To me, this is neighborhood beautification at it’s finest!
So, I encourage you and your friends to apply for this rare and unique opportunity to make your neighborhood a prettier and healthier place, even if you plant a flower garden or some beautiful trees, that aren’t edible…I won’t be mad at you…LOL…Plants rock!
The deadline for application is February 17th, 2009.

New Jersey Food Attractions
December 28, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
My hubby and I have been wanting to go to visit New York City, but will probably stay over in a really great place in Jersey and then take the train in and not worry about parking.
However, while we are in Jersey, we might as well take in their sites, sounds, smells and tastes too! Maybe enjoy a Jersey Shore beach Vacation while we’re at it!
As a foodie, I’m always looking to where we can eat something amazing wherever we go…something different and unique to that area.
What have I found in New Jersey?
Not only have I found you a plethora of food finds, but I’ve also found you a deal to go along with it.
I looked up Morey’s Piers Amusement Park – apparently, one of the best attractions in New Jersey and one of the best water parks in New Jersey.
Who doesn’t love amusement park food? I love to eat amazing funnel cakes, cotton candy, foot-long hot dogs, corn dogs, fresh-squeezed lemonade, handmade pretzels, bloomin’ onions, caramel corn, waffles and ice cream, and candy apples…Yeah, we’ll be busy!
If you’re not into all that “junk food” like we are, you can sit on a patio on the beach and eat at Jumbo’s Seafood Grill or Curley’s Fries and have their famous Read more

Oooh, Ahhh – Organic Chocolate Truffles
November 30, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
As many of you know, I’m not a person that eats sweets often…I’m more of a pasta and potato-craver myself…LOL
However, if there’s something sweet around that’s worth those calories, I’m happy to enjoy it!
Just is the case with the Central Market Organics Chocolate Truffles imported from France.
They are actually USDA organic, but that’s not what makes them awesome…
I don’t understand why truffles are typically only seen during the Holidays…they’re often not readily available. They should be!
Why?
