2 Ways to Eat Deliciously Traveling

Tally's Beaverdale - Des Moines: TallysBeaverdale.comI don’t know about you, but when I think about traveling, more often than not, I think about all the delicious things that come out of that city, region, state or country.

I’m salivating just thinking about it now. Am I alone on this?

If you’re going to go somewhere, I think you should really experience what that place is about, including the food that comes out of it!  I mean, how can you get to know a city without knowing what gets to people’s hearts via their stomachs… 😉

Ask the Locals:
Another great way to find noteworthy eateries is ask the locals when you get there.

I mean, who knows the good spots better than the locals? Really? There’s no one better to ask. This is my favorite way to Eat Deliciously when I’m traveling, hands down.

It’s the best way to find little hole-in-the-wall, mom & pop restaurants, diners & pubs of all shapes & sizes that have some of the most unique dishes around, making up the complex tapestry of North American cuisine with different cuisine styles, flavors and ingredients.

…But not just North America, it’s the same thing all over the world. When I traveled around Australia, I encountered so many different regional cuisines…it was amazing!

However, for all of those people out there who are ‘mild control freaks’ out there, checking online reviews prior to travel makes things easy-peasy when you arrive.

Plan Before You Travel:

  • Do you plan where you will dine before you travel?

Whenever I travel, I try to research a few worthy eateries wherever I may be going to visit.

For instance, if I were to be traveling to Des Moines, I would look up “best restaurants Des Moines“.

If you’re going to go somewhere, I think you should really experience what that place is about, including the food that comes out of it!

Just think about it…

  • Best Philly Cheese-Steak Sandwich in Philadelphia
  • Best BBQ Ribs in Texas
  • Best Seafood Restaurants in Maine
  • Best Poutine in Quebec

What’s more, you can check online for restaurants with patios, for instance, or that are on the water, or historic of some nature.

Before visiting Brant Conservation Area in Ontario, I searched online for interesting places to eat, and we wound up eating at a fabulous historic hotel with the most amazing food, right off the Brant River. It was fantastic and worth the search online. I let my fingers do the walking, literally.

So, after a full day on the water kayaking & canoeing, we didn’t have to think about dinner, we already knew a perfect spot with fabulous food. Yum!

The possibilities are endless… #imjustsayin @CookingWithKimE (Follow me, will ya?)
